Roll Tape
In 2009 Andrew Pye, James Cooper & Paul Brown started recording their blend of dark ethereal compositions in a previously unused room, found in an undisclosed location tucked away somewhere in a corner of England, UK.
Using a mixture of vintage and cutting edge equipment, including customised and newly crafted unique instruments Roll Tape have created a unique body of work including an ever growing collection of compositions for synchronisation which have been used extensively over the past decade by various film / television networks and production companies around the world.

Carnivorous (Part 1, The Flesh)
"A well fed beast sleeps deeply"

From the jagged electronic beats, screaming synth and guitar textures of 'The Flesh', to wandering through a dark foreboding sonic forest of sparse haunting piano melodies and the thick smog of unhinged electronics of 'The Bones', Carnivorous delivers a bipolar nightmare of frantic highs & desolate lows.

Fall Of Static
A Ten track album exploring the sounds of a hope clutching, anxiety riddled, fear driven world.
The album also includes a track that was, and still is one of our best received.
'Bells' was originally written as our stand-out (a single, if there ever was one) pivotal track for the Disco Tears album. Taking its inspiration from an obscure rarely heard number station referred to as 'The Sinister Bells'.

33.333r (HUMT025)
Where it all began. Our first album of 10 tracks which were never really intended to be anything more than a collection of ideas and experiments. It was eventually heard by the sync label, Hum Tracks who offered to release the entire album. Only one snag, the masters were all stored on a laptop hard drive that had just died a week previous. One month of painstaking data retrieval, file sorting and re-building later and we managed to resurrect the whole album ready to live again as our first official release.
Hum Tracks would eventually partner with BMG where you'll find the album rebranded and renamed 'Soundtrack to a Haunting' Which was a quote taken from an album review we received.

Dark Places (TMS029)
Dark Places is a Ten track sync album written, performed and produced for the fantastic folks at
The Music Supervisors. The collection consists of a mix of simple beat-driven synth-rock & sparse haunting piano pieces created with the Noir Drama / Factual Documentary genre in mind.

The project was originally planned as a one off album, though on release the collection was so well received it sparked the birth of a further Two albums with possible additions being added to the Dark Places family in the future.

Threat & Danger (TMS122)
What initially started off as a possible simple glitch beat project quickly evolved into an epic self-indulgent delve into an industrial electronic collision of synth noise madness.
This was a most welcome opportunity to dig deep in to the rabbit hole of Eurorack modular analogue and digital syntheresis.
With a sea of cables we set out to process, process and process again with step-sequencers and granular gloriousness!

This album was an absolute honour and a pleasure to write, produce and master for the amazing Pitch Hamer team, who asked use to feature as one of the showcase artists for their new sub-label, Audio Intelligence.

Fun fact: The album features audio recordings we captured from a number of live seances and reportedly haunted locations.
Roll Tape
Electronic Noir (WOM-366)
Originally written as follow on album to 33.333r inspired by the paranoia of the Cold War and the many mysterious coded shortwave transmissions from that time, now referred to as 'Number Stations'.

Titled 'Disco Tears' the album features a guest appearance from comedy genius and equally
talented musician Robert Popper on acoustic guitar.
Thanks Popper... Thopper.

The album was eventually taken under the wing of
West One Music Group.
Rebranded and Renamed 'Electronic Noir' it now sits among their much admired roster of albums.
Roll Tape
Widescreen Minimalism (TMS052)
Our first official delve into the world of ambient music for widescreen drama. We have always been fans of the Ambient genre and written many tracks over the years as Roll Tape that sit comfortably in this area, however adapting to find the correct blend between distant abstraction and audience engagement was a welcome and enjoyable challenge which added a much appreciated string to our bow.

Originally a Ten track commission which soon turned in to a Twelve track album once we found our footing.
